WHAT IS CRYOTHERAPY?
Cryotherapy is a treatment where by a very cold liquid, liquid nitrogen, is introduced to the surface of the skin. This can be done either with a spray jet or with a cotton bud technique. There are no needles and no injections required. This is usually used for treating skin lesions such as skin tags, warts and keratosis. It can be used to treat pre-cancerous skin lesions but it is not effective to treat proven skin cancer lesions.
Dr Louisa also has a keen interest in skin cancer medicine. She has diagnosed and treated many patients with suspicious skin lesions. If you have any concerns about a mole or any skin lesions, don't hesitate to ask Dr Louisa to have a look. She uses a handheld dermatoscope (a device which helps to magnify the skin for examination) and she may be able to point you to the right direction.
