Cryotherapy
Please note that the following does not replace
the advice from your medical doctor.
If you have questions, please use the online
contact form.
Q: Is it normal to swell after cryotherapy?
A: YES. Cryotherapy is using very cold liquid nitrogen directed to the affected area of the skin. It is used to remove skin tags, warts and some precancerous skin lesions, such as solar keratosis.
The idea of cryotherapy is to directly cause a very superficial burn to stimulate inflammation of the skin. This will lead to redness, swelling, inflammation, then later blisters and eventually scabs.
Please resist the temptation of picking the scab as this will definitely cause hyperpigmentation (especially for darker skin tone) and scarring.
Q: What can I use to reduce the discomfort?
A: There are several products that you can apply after the procedure (can be purchased at any pharmacy).
- Soov (antiseptic and analgesic)
- Solugel (dressing for minor burns - please put in the fridge before and after use to ensure greater comfort)
