March 2010 E-News:

Introducing Meso-Oxygen Therapy skin hydration and rejuvenation at Caci Clinic South Yarra.

Appointments will be at least 30mins with the first 10 mins allowing for the application of topical anaesthetic cream prior to procedure.

So, please be on time.  Then, you may wish to book your Signature Caci Oxygen Treatment for the same day or another day to complete the Meso-Oxygen Therapy.

Anti-aging topical creams can be expensive and may not penetrate enough through to the skin layer.  Mesotherapy bypasses the skin layer and directly put the vitamins and hyaluronic acid where it is most needed.

This treatment is great for areas around the back of hands, neck, and face.  Dr Louisa uses a combination of injectable multivitamins and hyaluronic acid for

Skin Rejuvenation and Hydration.

February 2010 E-News:

MESOTHERAPY

Dr Louisa has recently attended a mesotherapy workshop training session with AAAM (American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine) on 3rd February 2010.  She was inspired by the group of doctors with similar goals, interests and passion about aesthetic medicine.  Mesotherapy can provide a wide range of treatments for her clients.  These treatments are very effective and affordable.  Treatments such as:

- lipodissolve or lipolysis

- Skin re-hydration

- Skin rejuvenation

can enhance existing cosmetic treatments.

Mesotherapy has been around for a long time and it was first introduced in 1952 in France by Dr Pistor.  It was soon adopted by doctors in the Western and Eastern European countries and now world-wide.

January E-News

New Year's resolution 2010:

Thinking of a new year's resolution?

Be Kind To Our Skin - looking younger and healthier:

1) Hydration: Both inside and outside!!

This summer is going to be very hot and dry.

Our skin is one of the largest organ in the body and it thrives on water for hydration. Please make sure you have plenty of water throughout the day (on average about 6-8 glasses per day).  Don't wait till you feel thirsty and ensure there is a constant supply.  Be careful of natural diuretic drinks such as coffee and tea, as they can make you lose more water (due to its diuretic effects).

Choose a good sunscreen for the summer sun.  Be sure to find one that suits your skin type and be at least SPF 30+ and covers both UVA and UVB.  For general skin - try Olay 30+ (~$10-$15).  For sensitive and acne prone skin - try Hamilton everyday face 30+ with a slight tint ($10-$15 also).  This Hamilton one is non-comedongenic, i.e. it does not clog your pores.

Ensure to choose a breathable make up / foundation.  Generally, mineral makeup allows your skin to breathe.  Don't forget to spray a mist of mineral water to set your make up.  This also adds a "glow" to your skin.

Don't forget to invest in a really good night and eye cream.  Your skin starts to repair itself at night.  So, while you sleep, let it do the work for you. Ensure your product has plenty of Vitamins A, C, E with a little bit of PHA / AHA or retinoic acid.  Note that it is not recommended to use Vit A or retinoic acid products whilst you are planning to fall pregnant, currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

2) Smoking

You already know it's bad for you!

Smoking SPEEDS up the AGING process and encourages the activity of super radical oxidants, of which, are carcinogenic.  As a result, it promotes more cell damage leading to formation of wrinkles and pigmentation.  The skin is left with a dull and grey-ish colour.

So, it is time!!

We always talk about investments in terms of capital, property and finance.  Why don't people invest in themselves?  It is time to think about investing in our bodies for better health and therefore better quality of life.  Your doctor will be able to provide relevant support and anti-smoking program tailored especially for you.

YOU ARE NEVER TOO LATE TO TRY GIVING UP, THE EARLIER THE BETTER.

Giving up a little now, you will gain a whole lot more later!!!

3) Alcohol

Let's party and take it easy!

I love a glass of good quality red wine for it's anti-oxidant effects. Studies show that red wine is great due to its anti-oxidant effects and heart protection properties.

Just like everything in the world - too much is harmful.

Please drink at moderation and limit alcohol intake.

4) Tone your skin and Tone your body

Toning your skin will help restoring its natural glow.  It is recommended to use a non-alcohol toner after cleansing your skin.  Micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels aid in removing the surface layer of dead skin.  This helps to generate new, smooth and more supple skin.

Don't forget to Tone your body as well as your skin.

Keep active and stay healthy!

Exercises produce natural hormones in the brain and they help certain conditions such as insomnia, mild depression, stress and anxiety.  Exercising also tones your body and increases your metabolism.

As we age, our metabolism slows down (~2% every decade).  So, if you are approaching 50 and you are eating the same amount of food when you were 20, the weight will simply stack on!

The way to combat this is to:

Increase metabolism

choose good quality food with some restrictions

 Glycaemic Index

have smaller but more frequent meals

drink plenty of water in between
