Post Treatment Instructions
á
Patience
is required; swelling will be present for 24 to 48 hours. It will go down.
Use icepacks on the treated area to reduce swelling if required – 10
minutes on and 10 minutes off. The longer you follow this icing treatment, the
quicker the swelling will subside.
á
Avoid touching your face for at least two hours
to allow injection sites to heal over. Wash your hands before touching injected
areas to avoid introducing external infection.
á
Your treated area will feel a bit tender for a
few days. Bruising is rare but can occur – if so, you can use Arnica
cream, tablet or spray to speed the recovery or Lanosil cream can be applied to
the area to help the body metabolise the bruise at a greater speed.
á
Avoid exposure to prolonged sunlight, rigorous
exercise, saunas, hot baths and excessive amounts of alcohol, as this will
increase the swelling and the possibility of bruising. However a celebration
drink is acceptable!
á
Keep the area free of oil based products, heavy
cosmetics and thick moisturisers for at least four hours.
á
It is essential that you attend your review
appointment in 4 weeks time so that we can compare with your before photo and ensure
a perfect result. A three-month check-up is also required to check your
progress. Over a three-month period, the gel will soften and will have a
different texture and feel beneath the skin. This is usual and it is expected,
as your collagen will have begun to fill the surrounding scaffold of calcium
particles.
